Robinson Helicopter C016-7 Emergency AD NZ/AUS

February 23rd, 2015

The new Zealand and the Australian Civil aviation Authority has grounded about 300h R44 with the latest Mainrotorblades (Version C016-7) installed. There were some seriously bad accidents, where Pilots lost their life. One Pilot reported, that in forward flight the Helicopter starts shaking and he was nearly not able to get the Helicopter down. On the ground he inspected the Mainrotorblades and found a crack from the debondling line of the leading edge back to the Trailing edge of one Mainrotorblade. It seems that the australian CAA and the CAA of New Zealand taking this issue very seriously. Actually right now Robinson Helicopter is doing some investigations, in combination with the FAA for finding the reason of this. We were already several weeks ago told by customers in the US and in Southamerica, that they found Blade delamination on their Blades. But We were not shure, how they had maybe treated the Blades.....
As a safty measurement, please inspect the Mainrotorblades at any possible time for any unusually cracks, dents, or delamination. Please be aware, that the damage can happen inbetween minutes/seconds!
We are shure, that RHCwill join the "Party" for finding the reason on this. And we are as well shure that they will find a perfect fitting solution fo all owners of these Mainrotorblades!
If you have any Questions regarding this issue, or any other, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.
